Yadink: write your memories on your photos

Yadink lets you write on a photo in handwriting styles, either on the picture itself or in a clean border around it, the way people once wrote on the back or margin of a printed photo. You can also make collages, print-size posters and festival greetings. It runs in your browser, and your photos never leave your device.

What you can make

Captioned photos

Add a date, a place, a name or a short message to a family photo, in a handwriting style that looks personal rather than typed.

Prints with a border

Place the photo in a white, coloured or paper-textured border, and write in the margin. Choose a print shape such as 4×6 or 5×7 so it prints without cropping.

Collages, posters and greetings

Combine several photos in one picture with a title, or start from a Diwali greeting design in English, Hindi or a regional language.

How to write on a photo, step by step

  1. Choose a photo. Tap Choose photo and pick one from your phone or computer. Rotate or flip it if needed.
  2. Adjust it (optional). Use Auto fix, or change brightness, contrast, colour and warmth yourself.
  3. Choose where to write. Pick On the photo to write over the picture, or With a border to keep the photo clean and write in the margin. With a border, choose a shape (for example Portrait 4:5 for Instagram, 2:3 for a 4×6 print, or 9:16 for a story) and a border colour.
  4. Add your text. Tap + Add text, then double-tap the text on the picture to type. Pick a handwriting style, size, colour, opacity and tilt. Drag the text to move it. Add as many text boxes as you like.
  5. Choose an output size. Match photo keeps the original resolution. Or pick a size for social posts, screens, or a print of 6, 7, 10 or 12 inches on the long side.
  6. Save. Tap Save picture, then Download. On a computer you can also copy the picture and paste it straight into a WhatsApp chat.

How to make a collage or poster

  1. Open the collage page and pick a layout and size.
  2. Tap Add photos. Photos fill the empty spaces in order. Tap a space to choose its photo, and drag a photo to move it inside its space.
  3. Set the background, the space between photos, the outer margin, rounded corners and room for a title.
  4. Add text in any handwriting style, then save. For printing, give the print shop the downloaded file as it is.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Yadink works inside your browser. Your photos are opened, edited and saved on your own device and are never sent to our servers.

Can I write in Hindi or other Indian languages?

Yes. The free version includes a Hindi handwriting style and lettering in 10 Indian scripts. Type in your language using your phone or computer keyboard, then choose a style that supports that script.

Should I write on the photo or use a border?

Write on the photo when there is a plain area, such as sky, a wall or the ground, where text will be easy to read. Use a border when the photo is busy, when you don't want to cover any faces, or when you are printing and want the look of a handwritten album page.

Which shape should I choose for printing?
  • 4×6 inch print: Portrait 2:3 or Landscape 3:2.
  • 5×7 inch print: Portrait 5:7 or Landscape 7:5.
  • A4 or A5 print: Portrait A4 / A5.

Then choose an output size of at least 1800 px on the long side for a 6-inch print, or 3000 px for 10 inches, so the print stays sharp.

Which shape is best for Instagram, WhatsApp or stories?

Portrait 4:5 fills the most space in an Instagram feed. Square 1:1 works everywhere. Portrait 9:16 suits stories, Reels covers and WhatsApp status.

How do I send the full-quality picture on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp compresses photos. To keep full quality, send the saved picture as a document rather than as a photo. On a computer, you can click Copy picture, open the chat and press Ctrl+V.

Why is there a small “yadink.dzealai.com” mark on my picture?

Free pictures carry a small mark in one corner. Pro removes it from all your pictures.

Is Pro really a one-time payment?

Yes. You pay once and keep Pro for as long as Yadink runs, on every device where you log in, for one person on up to 3 devices at a time. Pro never turns into a subscription. If Yadink ever closes, we give 30 days' notice, and anyone who bought Pro in the 90 days before the notice gets a full refund.

Can my shop, clinic or school use Pro?

Pro is a personal licence, including for your own work or business. Where several people use Yadink, you will need the Enterprise plan, which is coming soon. Until it launches, contact us.

Can I make a picture under 150 KB for Google Ads?

Yes, with Pro. In the collage maker, choose a file-size limit such as Under 150 KB (Google Ads), and Yadink picks the best JPEG quality that fits.

Does it work offline or on a phone?

Yadink works in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Once the page has loaded, editing happens on your device; you need a connection to open the site and to sign in for Pro.
